I bought some IPAs for a birthday party a few months ago, and I'll never make that mistake again. IPAs are terrible beers, and no one in the family drinks them. I'm not a beer drinker, so I didn't know how repulsive it was. I tried it and concluded that if they serve beer in the afterlife, this is definitely the crap that's flowing through hell's tap. Unfortunately, I was stuck with several leftover cans, so we've been using them to boil brats. Several drinks still hold precious real estate in my mini fridge. What else could I do to redeem myself from buyer's remorse?
Beer Bread of course!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
12 oz of beer of choice at room temperature
4 tablespoons melted butter
Self-rising flour 3 cups (sifted)
2/3 cup cheddar cheese
*You can buy self-rising flour in the grocery store but it's also easy to make. For every cup of regular flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of fine salt.
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. Mix all the dry ingredients into a bowl.
3. Add the beer, cheese, and melted butter.
4. Pour the mixture into a well-greased bread pan.
5. Bake for 45 minutes to one hour at 350 degrees.
Serves 4-6 people.
