Reduced Salt Homemade Dutch Oven Bread: No Kneading and ONLY 4 Ingredients

Updated: Nov 18, 2022

With the rising cost of groceries these days, many people are looking for ways to make their grocery money stretch as far as possible. One way to do this is by baking your own bread from scratch. It's not difficult to do and can even be fun! You can make this bread with less salt and without kneading. The result is a delicious and healthy loaf of bread. The recipe is simple, and the ingredients are easy to find. You will need just flour, yeast, salt, and water. There is nothing better than home-baked fresh bread!

3 1/2 cups of flour

1 teaspoon of active dry yeast

1 teaspoon of salt

1 1/2 cups water (hottest tap you can get)

1. Mix all dry ingredients, then add the hot water.

2. Form into a dough ball or until all the ingredients are well-mixed.

3. Cover dough - I use a glass bowl with a rubber lid. Make sure the dough has room to rise.

4. Allow dough to sit for 18-24 hours- 24 hours is the best!

5. Allow the Dutch oven to heat up in the oven while it's preheating to 450 degrees.

6. Place dough on a heavily floured surface and mold the dough into a ball.

7. Place dough on a piece of parchment paper (about 18 inches long)

8. Once the oven preheats, remove the Dutch oven from the oven and place the dough on parchment paper into the Dutch oven.

9. Put the lid back on and the Dutch oven back into the oven.

10. Bake for 30 minutes.

11. Remove the lid and bake for 5-10 minutes uncovered until your crust reaches a desired level of crispness.

12. Remove the Dutch oven, put the lid back on, and place it on the counter to cool.

13. Slice bread when the bread is room temp.

This bread will only last a few days before it starts to mold, but it probably won't even last that long!
